Kerala Police Academy is Kerala’s apex Police Training Institution undertaking a variety of training programs catering to the requirements at various levels in the Police Department. Apart from the basic training, KEPA also conducts various in-service training programs in consultation and with the support of national and state partners.

The primary purpose of Kerala Police Academy is to prepare police personnel with the utmost level of professional standards and to provide the state of Kerala with skilled police officers who are conscientious, knowledgeable, competent, and approachable to the needs of the public through training.

The training aims to improve the proficiency and keenness of the trainees and inculcate in them those habits of health, activity, discipline, self-reliance, honesty, the dignity of labour, keen observation, courtesy, and straightforwardness in the execution of their work, which is essential to a police officer.

The Academy conducts refresher and capsule courses for in-service police officers to update their professional knowledge and skills so as to mold them into service-oriented professionals.

In addition to the basic training, the Academy conducts In-service courses for officers of all ranks of Police from Civil Police Officer to Deputy Superintendents of Police / Assistant Superintendents of Police (IPS Probationers) in all policing subjects and In-service training for Prosecutors, Social Justice Department officials, CWC, JJB, Child Line, Tribal Promoters and NGOs. Various In-service courses supported by the Institute of Management in Government (IMG), Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Data Security Council of India (DSCI), National Institute of Mental Health And Neuro Science (NIMHANS), Wild Life Crime Control Bureau, Cost Guard, National Women Commission (NWC), State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Kerala State Youth Commission, CDAAC, Social Justice Department (SJD) Kerala and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
