KEPA is perceptive of the importance of the environment and keeps a sensible stand towards protecting it. The 348-acre picturesque land area of the Academy is endowed with rich biodiversity. The aerial view of the campus of the Academy presents an arresting scenery of green canopy of huge trees. Almost all the typical landscapes of Kerala like woodlands, hilly areas, wetlands, and plains can be found on the Academy campus. Nearly 1500 flora species and 800 fauna species have been identified inside the campus. The campus is preserved as an eco-friendly plastic-free zone. Cleanliness drives employing trainees are regularly organized to maintain the campus neat and clean. Conscientious efforts are made to conserve as well as to embellish the natural landscape by planting more than a thousand tree saplings every year during the monsoon season in collaboration with the forest department of Kerala State. In compliance with the values that the Academy fosters to respect and concern for the environment, each trainee who joins the Academy for training is transformed into a dedicated protector of Mother Nature by the time he completes the training.
An organic vegetable and fruits garden is maintained on the Academy campus. Only bio-fertilizers are used to grow vegetables and fruits. The harvested vegetables and fruits are sold through the vegetable store functioning in the Academy. A Plantain garden and Marigold garden are also maintained in the campus.27 trees that are associated with the 27 constellations or “Nakshatras” are planted in the “Nakshatra Vanam”.
A Herbal Garden comprising of various types of medicinal plants is maintained in the Academy in collaboration with “Oushadhi”, a government of Kerala undertaking for the promotion of Ayurveda.
