KeLS
With a vision to serve the best to the trainees making the most of the advantages in the field of Information Technology, Kerala Police Academy has launched a learning management system titled “KeLS” (Kerala Police Academy e-learning System). This online portal for e-learning available both on the Academy Webpage, as well as an app through the Google Play Store, is hosted in the State Data Centre. The system consists of online course materials, timetable management, Feedback system, online examination module, interactive blogging, push notifications, grievance portal, video tutorials, etc.
It is mandatory for each trainee who joins Kerala Police Academy for basic training to register in KeLS and for each trainer to upload the study material prior to their classes. Subjects of the syllabus of training are prepared through videos, voice recordings, and documents. Physical training, Parade, and Weapon training modules video graphed from different angles covering minute aspects are of great help to the trainees to correct their drills. Notifications regarding uploads of study materials are provided to the registered users.
Some of the advantages of KeLS are that passive learning by trainees is lessened as there are provisions for interaction and proper feedback. Unique identification of trainees is possible in KeLS as all trainees are issued clone-free RFID cards. Video/Audio gallery enables the trainees to concentrate more on the subjects which they wish to improvise.
Total 330 videos which amount to 350 GB of data and reading materials in 37 different topics pertaining to the basic training and Sub Inspector training have been uploaded in KeLS so far.
