Academic collaboration & MOU's

KEPA perceives the significance of technologically-driven policing in the years to come.  In line with this, the Academy has embarked upon the drive to become the Center of Excellence in Police Science and Research.

The far-sighted vision that the age-old investigation methods will be no longer sufficient to nab the criminals who exploit the advancement in the field of science and technology to commit crimes and the key solution is equipping the force with the-cutting-edge technologies in the field of Science, especially Forensic Science, Forensic Medicine, and Data Science led to collaborating with some universities and other institutions.

The perception that in-service courses for merely one-two weeks on scientific investigation will not serve the purpose, prompted Kerala Police to join hands with universities to launch postgraduate courses.

As per the MoU signed with the University of Calicut on 29th July 2019 a two-year course in MSc Forensic Science has been commenced.

Realization of the fact that future policing will be much dependent on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Machine Learning prompted the signing of the MoU with Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).

As per the MoU, courses on MSc Data Science and MSc Forensic Science have been commenced.

In all the post-graduate programs, 5 seats are reserved for police personnel. Admission is subjected to clearing the entrance examination conducted by the universities concerned.  The Police officers selected for the courses will be on deputation for a maximum period of Two years (course period) on condition that they should execute a Bond binding themselves to serve Kerala Police on return from the course for a continuous period of 10 years in the post from which he proceeds on deputation or in another post to which he is appointed subsequently by promotion or by transfer. This will ensure the service of trained officers in Kerala Police and will contribute to enhancing the service provided by police in the years to come.
